Introduction


  • The University Grants Commission had notified in the Gazette of India under the ‘Minimum Standards and procedures for award of MPhil/PhD degree regulation,2009’ that the procedure for admission for these degrees should be through an Entrance Test conducted at the level of individual University, followed by an interview to be organized by the Department/University. Further at the time of the interview the students are expected to discuss their research interest/area and only a pre-determined number of students may be admitted to the MPhil/PhD programme. Subsequently in supersession of the above mentioned notification, the new notification called ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD degrees) Regulations, 2016’ mentions that the admission should be a two stage process i.e.

    • An entrance test with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the entrance test shall consist of 50% research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.

    • An interview/viva voce to be organized where the candidates discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Department Research Committee.
  • The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda had also introduced the PET (S.R. No: 27 (7) dated 6-9-2010 and
    S. R. No: 29 dated 30/05/2017) onwards. Our University had accepted the UGC admission procedure and had given exemptions to the candidates who have qualified in the National/ State eligibility examinations such as UGC-CSIR (NET)/ SET/GATE/DBT/ICMR/JRF etc.
  • The Entrance Test will have Written test. The test will be conducted in the medium of English only. The question papers will be of Multiple Choice Questions, and details of the Subject wise syllabus, department, vacancy, etc can be seen in the website www.petmsubaroda.in.
